How to Connect Google Search Console, Analytics, and Merchant Center

WP SEO Agent runs on real Google data, not third-party estimates. Connecting your Google accounts takes a few minutes and unlocks the most valuable parts of your dashboard. This guide covers the three connections: Search Console, Analytics, and, for online stores, Merchant Center.

Connecting Google Search Console

From the plugin settings, choose to connect Google Search Console, sign in with the Google account that owns your site, and approve access. That is the whole process.

Here is what it unlocks:

  • Your real ranking line. The solid line on every project’s ranking chart is your Search Console 28-day average, updated daily from real searches.
  • A page inspection card. For each project you see whether the page is indexed, plus impressions, clicks, click-through rate, average position, and the top search terms people actually used to find it.
  • Page Finder. Type any keyword and see which of your pages already rank for it, powered entirely by your Search Console data.
  • Accurate weekly emails. Your Monday report compares real week-over-week numbers instead of guesses.
Good to know: Google’s own Search Console data runs 2 to 3 days behind. That is Google’s limitation, it affects every SEO tool equally, and it is why your chart is a trend line rather than a live ticker.

Connecting Google Analytics

On the same settings page, connect Google Analytics and pick your GA4 property from the list that appears. This adds a visits card to each project, showing traffic to that specific page compared with your site as a whole, so you can see whether ranking improvements are turning into actual visitors.

Both the Search Console and Analytics cards refresh themselves weekly, and you can refresh either one on demand whenever you want current numbers.

Connecting Google Merchant Center (online stores)

If you run a WooCommerce store and advertise or list products on Google, connect Merchant Center too. It reuses the same Google sign-in, and the one-time registration happens automatically in the background.

Once connected, your Product SEO area shows a Top Shopping Demand list: the products shoppers clicked and viewed over the last 30 days, so you optimise the products buyers are already searching for. Each row links straight into creating that product’s SEO project, and you can download the demand data as a private file for your own records.

It also sharpens keyword suggestions: instead of guessing your product’s category, the agent uses the real category Google files it under in your feed, and shows you whether each suggestion came from your store data or an estimate.

Tip: Connect Search Console first, it powers the most features. Analytics and Merchant Center build on top of it.

What if I skip the connections?

The agent still works: audits, recommendations, content writing, and live ranking checks all run without them. But the connections are where the honest, site-specific data comes from, so they are worth the few minutes. If you are unsure how to read the data once connected, start with how to read your ranking chart.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect my Google accounts?

Yes. You approve access through Google’s own consent screen, and the agent only reads the data it needs to show your rankings, traffic, and product demand. It never changes anything in your Google accounts.

Why is my Search Console data a few days behind?

Google publishes Search Console data with a 2 to 3 day delay. That is Google’s limitation and it affects every tool, which is why the chart focuses on your trend rather than a single day.

Do I need Merchant Center if I do not sell products?

No. Merchant Center is only useful for online stores. Service businesses get full value from Search Console and Analytics alone.

How often does the data refresh?

The ranking line updates daily, and the information cards refresh weekly, with buttons to refresh on demand whenever you want current numbers.
